History and development of the Zell am See Ski & Snowboard School
The Zell am See Ski School was re-established in 1945 and was managed by Richard Rossmann until 1989.
In the years that followed, several smaller, independent ski schools were established, run by local ski school directors. These included the ski schools of Albert Schmidhuber, Lorenz Wallner, Otto Prenner, Hans Truschner and Franz Oberlader.
In autumn 1999, a decisive restructuring took place: the individual businesses were converted into a civil law partnership.
This resulted in today’s Zell am See Ski & Snowboard School.
The merger pursued several key objectives:
Leveraging synergy effects: Administration, organisation and marketing were bundled, enabling efficiency gains.
Presence at all valley stations: The joint structure enabled the ski school to guarantee a uniform range of services at all valley stations in the Zell ski area.
Better support for large numbers of guests: With a larger, well-organised team, it was possible to meet the growing demand from international guests.
Strengthening competitiveness: A joint brand identity gave the ski school visibility and competitiveness compared to other large ski schools in Austria.
Current management:
Four of the original founding members have since retired. The Zell am See Ski School is currently run by the new owners:
Franz Oberlader
Markus Wallner
- Alexander Hohenwarter
Markus Oberlader
Christoph Zeller
Thanks to the strategic decisions made in 1999, the Zell am See Ski & Snowboard School is now one of the largest and most renowned snow sports schools in Austria and plays a central role in winter tourism in the region.
