GENERAL QUESTIONS
Where are the offices of the Ski and Snowboard School Zell am See located?
You will find our offices directly at the valley stations of the cable cars (AreitXpress, CityXpress TrassXpress). The offices are open daily during the winter season!
You can also use our online shop and enjoy many advantages (special prices, discounts, etc.). Right next to us is a Sport shop where you can rent ski & snowboard equipment.
Is the equipment included in the ski school prices?
No. The sports equipment must be rented or purchased independently of the ski school.
The SKI / SNOWBOARD EQUIPMENT is only included in our ALL in ONE PACKAGES!
Is the ski pass included in the course price?
The ski pass is not included in the course price! Info and prices for ski passes can be found at: www.schmitten.at
Do beginners also need a ski pass?
Basically yes. Beginners do not need a ski pass for the first one or two days at our AreitXpress and Schmittenhöhe stations. At the CityXpress station, a ski pass is already required on the first day of the course as the practice area is at the top station of the CityXpress gondola!
The instructor will advise you – depending on your learning progress – on the purchase of a ski pass. There are also special beginner tickets for the practice lifts which are much cheaper.
What do we need to bring to the ski or snowboard course?
A complete set of ski or snowboard equipment, warm clothes, gloves, sun cream, we also recommend a helmet. (compulsory for children up to 15 years)
What courses (skill level) do you offer?
We offer courses from beginners to good skiers / snowboarders. On the first day of the course you will be divided according to your current ability.
Do I also need to book in advance for group courses?
We generally recommend booking through our webshop. The earlier the better! This brings you a lot of advantages! There is usually always space in the group courses. In the holiday periods, however, we cannot guarantee that there will be free places on site without online booking.
Is there also a course on Friday and Saturday?
There are no group courses on Fridays and Saturdays, except at Christmas / New Year!
Private courses are of course also possible on Friday and Saturday at any time on request!
Why book online?
While it used to be common to book the course and equipment directly on site at the beginning of the winter holiday, we recommend booking ski / snowboard courses and private lessons online well in advance.
This way you don’t take any risks, as the course places and equipment are often already fully booked, especially in the high season!
Both for you and for the Ski School Zell am See, online booking offers advantages for planning! Both sides can prepare optimally for the upcoming course and any questions can be clarified before the start of the holiday.

Do I have to book a 5-day course directly?
In terms of price, our 5-day course is the cheapest offer. If you are unsure whether your child (from 4 years) likes skiing, you can book fewer days for the time being. If it works out well, you can simply rebook for the additional days in our office!
Do the ski course days have to be on consecutive days?
In principle, yes. It also makes sense to redeem the days consecutively, as the learning programme builds on each day. If the children/adults skip a day, this could result in them not being able to keep up in the course and thus having to change groups.
Is it possible to join a course during the week?
Beginners’ courses start on Sunday and Monday (on request on the other days.) Intermediate and advanced children can join a course from Sunday to Thursday.
Intermediate and advanced adults can join a course from Monday to Thursday!
There are no group courses on Fridays and Saturdays.
Do you also have foreign language ski instructors?
We have an international team of ski instructors. Most of the ski instructors speak German and English. We also have quite a few instructors who speak Dutch!
On request, other languages can also be considered for private lessons (French, Italian, Danish, Russian, Czech,…
In which languages are the courses offered?
Group lessons are generally held in German or English. Other languages such as Dutch, Russian etc. are possible on request, but can never be guaranteed.

〉 SKI COURSE and EQUIPMENT (skis, boots, poles) for 6/7 days
〉 SNOWBOARD COURSE and EQUIPMENT (snowboard, boots) for 6/7 days.
〉 For children from 4 to 15 years the helmet is also included!

Do I get my money back if I don't like the course I booked?
Basically, you only get your money back if you have a doctor’s certificate (illness, injury). However, there are several offers (one day course, extension, …) to keep the “risk” for you as low as possible!
If, contrary to expectations, it still doesn’t work out, we offer the possibility to change your course to a private course. In this case, the difference of the still open course days will be credited.
What is the minimum number of participants for a group course?
A minimum of 4 participants is required for a group course to be possible! If there are less than 4 participants, the group can be combined or the course time can be shortened accordingly!
What happens in the event of an accident?
Course cards are personal and non-transferable. Redeemed course tickets will be refunded on a pro rata basis. The Zell am See Ski School accepts no liability for any accidents.
Can I pay by credit card at the ski school office?
Yes. We accept Visa, Mastercard, EC card and cash.
QUESTIONS ABOUT THE CHILDREN'S SKI COURSE
From what age can children join the ski course?
For 3 to 4 year old children we have the KIDS TASTER (private lessons) in our programme. We no longer offer group lessons for 3-4 year olds!
In general, lessons with a private instructor are possible at any time!
For children from 4 years we recommend our KIDS ON SKI course (full day – 4 hours).
For snowboard courses we have a minimum age of 10 years.
What is the difference between Kids Taster and a Kids on Ski course ?
The KIDS TASTER is a private course (duration 55min) for children from 3 to 4 years. The children are slowly introduced to skiing with playful learning methods. In a group course, children aged 3-4 years are very often overwhelmed!
The KIDS on SKI course is 4 hours per day 10-12 + 13-15, optionally with or without lunch supervision. Here we recommend taking the course with lunch supervision (incl. lunch), as the teachers do not always eat in the same restaurant. If you have several children of different ages or if the children are in different groups, you could get into stress.
Is the equipment for children included in the ski school price?
No. The sports equipment must be rented or purchased independently of the ski school.
SKI / SNOWBOARD EQUIPMENT is only included in our ALL in ONE PACKAGES!
However, if both parents rent their equipment from our partner, children up to 10 years receive the equipment free of charge!
How is the grouping done?
The grouping is done by questioning and testing on the first day of the course. If the grouping does not fit 100%, it is possible to change to another group without any problems.
Is it bad if I have entered or booked the wrong group/skill?
No. The groups are all divided up at the assembly point. There they are asked again about their skills. After this questioning, you will be placed in the appropriate group course. It is possible to change to another group without any problems.
Can our children be in a group together?
We will try our best!
Is the ski pass included in the course price?
The ski pass is not included in the course price!
However, children up to 6 years get a free ski pass!
Info and prices for ski passes can be found at: www.schmitten.at
Do children beginners also need a ski pass?
Basically yes. For the first and second day, complete beginners do not need a ski pass at our AreitXpress and Schmittenhöhe stations.
At the CityXpress station, a ski pass is already required on the first day of the course, as the practice area is at the top station of the CityXpress gondola!
The instructor will advise you – depending on your learning progress – on the purchase of a ski pass. There are also special beginner tickets for the practice lifts that are much cheaper.
When will the final race take place?
The ski race takes place on Thursday mornings. The ski race is part of the lessons. Children who do not wish to actively participate in the ski race have the opportunity to watch. In the afternoon, lessons take place as normal.
Afterwards, the award ceremony takes place at the respective assembly point! Each child receives a certificate and a medal!
Do you also have foreign language ski instructors?
We have an experienced international team of ski instructors. Most of the instructors speak German and English. We also have many instructors who also speak Dutch!
On request, other languages can also be considered for private lessons (French, Italian, Danish, Russian, Czech,…
In which languages are the courses offered?
Lessons are generally held in German or English. Languages such as Dutch, Danish etc. are possible on request, but cannot be guaranteed.
Do you offer lunchtime childcare?
Yes, supervision over lunch (12:00 -13:00) is possible.
Price: 19 € per day incl. food and drink (bookable in one of the ski school offices)!
In the high season, however, there may not be enough capacity for this!
You can also leave a message when booking online if you would like lunch supervision!
Where does the lunchtime supervision of the children take place?
Lunch supervision takes place in various ski huts / restaurants in the ski area.
It is best to ask the ski instructor where they have lunch.
It is often better if the parents do not come to the children over lunchtime, as some children do not want to stay with the group then!
Is it possible to take the lunchtime supervision for individual days?
Yes, we kindly ask you to register your child for lunchtime supervision at our office.
Be sure to talk to the ski instructor about lunch time supervision!
Where can we pick up our child after class?
In principle, the meeting point is also the pick-up point! But if you are not sure – just ask your child’s ski instructor!
Is it necessary to book a 5-day course for children?
Our programme is built up over a week with ski races and prize-giving on Thursday afternoon. Therefore it makes sense to stay in the course for the whole 5 days. However, it is of course also possible to attend a course for fewer days!
There is also the possibility of extending the course!
Does it make a difference in price whether I book a 3-day course first or a 5-day course immediately?
If the 5-day ticket is bought right at the beginning, there is a considerable price advantage.
If the first 3 days are bought individually (day by day), it is more expensive.
From the 4th day (after 3 purchased course days per person), the extension price is charged for each additional day.
Do the ski course days have to be taken on consecutive days?
Normally yes. It also makes sense to redeem the days consecutively, as the learning programme builds on each day. If the children/adults skip a day, this could result in them not being able to keep up in the course and thus having to change groups.
What if my child is unwell or injured during the ski course?
The telephone number of a parent should be noted on the course card! Then we can call you if necessary.
Therefore it is important that you are reachable on your mobile phone!
